What treatments are available for Macular Degeneration

macular degeneration treatmentsThere is currently no cure for either dry or wet Macular Degeneration, however, there are several treatments that can slow, stop and in some cases reverse the effects and progression of the disease. These treatments differ in their effectiveness based on the patient and how early on the disease is caught. • Photodynamic Therapy: Using light-activated drugs to prevent the growth of new blood vessels can stop the progression of wet AMD; and
  • Laser Therapy: Using lasers to destroy new blood vessels as they grow can slow the development of wet AMD.
